Android May Upset Windows 8 Tablet in War with Apple’s iPad

MMW reported earlier today that Microsoft has finally unveiled its long-awaited “Surface” Windows 8 tablet.

But before the Surface tablet bubbles to the surface in today’s increasingly competitive tablet space, Google might make a power play this summer by releasing a cheaper Android tablet than anything currently on the market.

“In coming weeks,” the WSJ reported Tuesday, “Google is expected to unveil a lower-priced Android tablet that it developed with Asustek Computer Inc. to dent the market share of Apple’s iPad, people familiar with the matter have said.”

According to Microsoft’s announcement on Monday, the new Windows tablet won’t be here until after the purported cheap Android tablet reaches consumers.
